Happy Thanksgiving! We have so very much to be thankful for, and a wonderful God and Savior who deserves all our gratitude, thanksgiving, worship, and praise.

This Sunday (Dec. 1st) begins our Lottie Moon month of prayer and giving for international missions. Our standing orders are to carry the Gospel of Christ to every corner of the world, to all those billions for whom Christ died, was buried, and rose again. Let’s all do all we can to help others know and love the same Savior that we do.

Our Youth Pastor search has begun. God has blessed us with the ability to seek a full-time Youth Pastor to minister to our large and growing congregation of children, youth, and their families. Please pray that the process will lead us to the right man for the job, the man of the Lord’s choosing.

Tomorrow night (Wednesday, Nov 27th) there is no Wednesday Night Kids/Teens due to Thanksgiving holiday.

Wednesday night Adult Bible Study and Prayer is suspended until further notice, except for Regular Monthly Business Meeting.

HBC Update 11-8-24
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. (Romans 13:1-7)
Well, the elections are over; some won and some lost. The Lord’s commands are clear concerning a Believer’s attitude toward our elected officials; they are to be respected for the sake of their office.
And God tells us that we can trust in Him to operate behind the scenes to take care of His people.
So give honor and respect to those to whom it is due, whether you agree with their politics or not.
And of course that includes your fellow Christians, no matter how they voted.
PS: And honor your King, the Lord Jesus Christ, above all others. He is worthy and deserving of all our praise.

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35)
What makes a Christian? What makes a good testimony of witness to the world? It isn’t the church attendance, giving, or the size of the Bible you carry. It isn’t the T-shirts and bumper stickers and posts on social media. Although these are all good things (except maybe that 20-pound Bible…), Christ says the Christianity that really shines through, that the Holy Spirit can use to point the world to your Savior, is when you treat your fellow believers with love.
Once again, the Law of Love is supreme.
What can you do this week to show the love of Jesus to your brothers and sisters in Christ?

We dedicate the to expressing our gratitude to you and to the Lord who gives us the honor of serving Him, and each other.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)
The fruit of the Spirit is a partial list of the Character of Christ. They are aspects of the Lord Jesus, produced in the life of a Believer, by the work of the Holy Spirit.
Take time to examine yourself and see how you measure up in these vital character traits. Are you more like Jesus in these areas than you used to be? Are you woefully lacking in some?
The good news is that these characteristics are not yours to try to generate on your own; they are the fruit, the result, of the Lord at work in your heart.
He wants to work together with you, inside you, to build you up more into the wonderful character of our dear Lord.
Our job is to daily choose to let Christ be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, self-controlled… in us.
